Hello
Welcome to Vis Island Rentals. Our home on the island of Vis is a place that’s very special to us, and we’re delighted to be able to share it with you.
We’ve been coming to Vis for over 25 years, returning each summer with our family, and over time it has become a true home from home. Every corner of the island holds memories for us, from quiet mornings by the sea to long evenings enjoying the local food and culture. We hope that during your stay, you’ll experience the same sense of relaxation, discovery, and connection that has kept us coming back year after year.
Our Story
Lord and Lady Newborough, of Rhug Estate near Corwen, are the custodians of a historic North Wales estate recognised for its commitment to sustainable farming, environmental responsibility, and rural enterprise. Their work at Rhug reflects a long-standing dedication to preserving heritage while embracing thoughtful innovation
That same approach has shaped their restoration of the property on Vis. Once a working boathouse, it has been carefully refurbished to retain its original character, including the slipway that still leads directly to the sea. The space where boats were traditionally repaired, known as a Konoba, remains at the heart of the house, offering a unique link to the island’s maritime past.
Over decades of visiting, they have developed a deep, personal understanding of the island that goes far beyond the typical visitor experience. This insight allows them to offer carefully considered recommendations, helping guests discover not just the well-known highlights, but also the quieter, more authentic side of Vis.
Today, the property stands as a reflection of both heritage and place, combining Welsh stewardship with a genuine connection to island life in Croatia, and offering guests a stay that is both distinctive and personal.
